Cause And Effect of Shattered Halls

'Cause and Effect' is a guild of Horde players, on the Shattered Halls realm of the game 'World of Warcraft'. Our focus is on having fun; the guild exists as a means to that end.

The guild was formed in early 2007 from a group of real-life friends and acquaintances, most of whom had at the time played for no more than a couple of weeks. As such, all game content has seemed fresh and interesting as the guild has progressed, from Wailing Caverns all the way into Outland and our first raiding experiences in Karazhan.

We are currently looking for members of all classes who wish to positively contribute to our guild. Maturity is essential, but we judge maturity by actions rather than age. Applications are taken through our website and forums.

Progression Update
06/10/2009 08:40 PM by Davegotsu

** 10-MAN PROGRESSION **

On 22/09/2009, our main 10-man group lead by Mulk and Skystalker managed to clear Trial of the Grand Crusader with 25 attempts left, which placed us briefly on third place in realm progression. Congrats, guys!

Thanks to Canthus being always on cameraman duty, you can see the video from the fight

Currently, Mulk's group is on the way for Tribute to Mad Skill, pushing progression even further. Last time just pure unluck left them with one attempt less than required. They are also pushing Ulduar further, clearing
10-man Firefighter on 28th September, opening their way to face Algalon the Observer. You can see the Firefighter video

Our second 10-man group was re-formed, lead randomly by Sweatybeast, Tollos and Neara, clearing Trial of Crusader without any major surprises. As of patch 3.2.2 hit, they couldn't resist to try new Onyxia's Lair ("for the lols"), bringing us a speedkill and a random achievement for not being hit by Deep Breath.

They are now pushing for Ulduar hardmodes to gear up before proper Trial of the Grand Crusader tries.

** 25-MAN PROGRESSION **

On 6/09/2009, Anub'Arak finally gone down and we managed to clear Trial of Crusader which leaves us at
5/5 ToC25 progression with 12/14 in Ulduar (Yogg still gets lower priority than new content, obviously), looking forward to trying 25-man version of Trial of the Grand Crusader.

** RECRUITMENT UPDATE **

Due to few unfortunate real-life-beats-WoW situations, we reopened extensive recruitment for all classes. We are currently looking for active, dedicated raiders with attitude to bolster our ranks. Currently, we are on the biggest lookout for Resto and Feral Druids as well as dedicated and active DPS classes, but every application will be considered by our class leaders. If you think you got what it takes, you can try to apply on http://cause-and-effect.guildomatic.com/forums/viewforum.php?f=11 our recruitment forum. You might want to check http://cause-and-effect.guildomatic.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=15&t=807 some basic information about us before applying.

We're really terrible at keeping the main page updated!

For 25-mans we're currently working on Yogg, but otherwise have ToC, Onyixa and VoA on farm. Working on ToGC at the moment.

10-man have cleared Uldaur, ToGC and are working on achievements and such.

Hodir and Freya down!
28/05/2009 01:33 PM by Grarl

I'm a bit late on the news-post front, but a quick update for the benefit of those who are keeping up with our raid-progress for whatever reason...

Hodir and Freya have both been defeated in 25-man Ulduar, and we're now working on Thorim and Mimiron. We're now at 9/13 in Ulduar-25 and 11/13 in Ulduar-10 (where both Thorim and Mimiron have also fallen).

Wetpatch now has four Fragment of Val'anyr.... only twenty-six to go!

Achievement-wise, we've recently picked up the following:

Heroic: Unbroken (Defeated Flame Leviathan on the first attempt without anyone repairing their vehicle)
Heroic: Disarmed (Destroyed both of Kologarn's arms and killed him within 10 seconds)
Heroic: I Have The Coolest Friends (Kept all eight NPCs alive while defeating Hodir)

and...

Heroic: A Poke In The Eye (Defeated Malygos with less than 21 people in the raidgroup)

Iron Council and Auriaya down!
06/05/2009 10:00 AM by Grarl

Another week in Ulduar-25 saw us down all our previously-killed bosses (Flame Leviathan, Razorscale, Ignis, Deconstructor and Kologarn) before going on to get ourselves two more guild-first kills.

The Iron Council (aka Assembly Of Iron) were the first to fall, with us opting for the 'standard' kill order of Steelbreaker, then Molgeim, then Brundir.

We started out with some niggles in phase 1 that we fixed; then there were a couple of niggles in phase 2; and then everything clicked together, and we breezed through our first sight of phase 3 with no problems. It's pretty much an auto-kill once you reach phase 3, provided you've remembered not to die in the previous phases!

Loot for The Iron Council was:
Ancient Iron Heaume - Neara
Runeshaper's Gloves - Shamole
Runed Ironhide Boots - Xime

After that we were left with just the one option, Auriaya (well, we could have skipped her, but where's the honor in that?). As with pretty much all guilds, we started out with some difficulties getting the pull right, but actually got that sorted out pretty quickly and then started work on the issues of getting the Feral Defender under control. We had a couple of 7% and 6% wipes, which could well have been kills had we not lost a DPSer or two... but we kept our heads and tried again and got ourselves what is probably the most satisfying of our first-kills so far.

Loot for Auriaya was:
Sandals of the Ancient Keeper - Gjara
Platinum Band of the Aesir - Deveaux
Siren's Cry - Skystalker

With these two kills, we completed Heroic: The Antechamber of Ulduar. As well as that and the Iron Council achievement, we also picked up Heroic: Shattered! during this week's Ignis kill.

Finally, here's an Auriaya killshot provided by Neara:

Kologarn down!
06/05/2009 09:58 AM by Grarl

(Note: This news-post was written on 28th April 2009)

Another night, another guild-first-kill, with Kologarn falling over. It took quite a few attempts for various reasons (eyebeam issues, Grip issues, then a particularly noteworthy wipe where we got overzealous and destroyed both arms and got taken by surprise when he received a damage-buff), but we took a little break and re-explained tactics and he fell a couple of attempts later.

Thanks to everyone involved, since the eventual kill was pretty clean and enjoyable. Quite a fun fight.

Loot was:
Ironmender - Opaq
Gloves of the Pythonic Guardian - Tollos
Shoulderpads of the Monolith - Xime
